Wine Country
With unique varietals including Carmenere and blended Chamán as well as other traditional French grapes long grown in the hospitable Chilean valleys, Chile’s wine country is recognized worldwide as among the oldest and best growing region.
DAY ONE
Arrive in Santiago today where you will be met at the airport and transferred by private car to The Aubrey, your boutique hotel in the city center. A beautiful retreat in the Bellavista neighborhood, the hotel is located at the foot of the Cerro San Cristóbal Hill. The property is within the Parque Metropolitano, one of the largest urban parks in the world, a short stroll from Pablo Neruda's beloved house La Chascona.
Once you have had a chance to settle in, meet your guide for a private excursion to the red wine region of the Alto Maipo Valley (drive time 35 minutes).
Your first stop is the lookout point at Torre Mirador, a tower inside the Aquitania winery built in 1993, where you will find a breathtaking view of the vineyards and the city of Santiago. If weather conditions permit, continue on to the vineyards (suggested October-March), visiting Aquitania, Santa Rita or Concha y Toro.
You will have a chance to visit a local wine cellar, barrel room and hand-labeling operation. The day ends with a tasting and introduction to the different varietals of the region.
This evening we suggest dining at your hotel. The Aubrey’s restaurant is managed by Pasta e Vino of Valparaiso, offering their celebrated blend of Italian flavors and Chilean ingredients based around hand-crafted pasta. Reservations recommended.
Overnight The Aubrey
DAY TWO
Begin your day with a full Brazilian breakfast of fruit, muesli, yogurt, ham and cheese, and fresh Tuscan olive oil rolls. Meet your guide at 9:00 am, transferring by private car to the heart of Chilean wine production, the Colchagua Valley. The drive will take approximately 2.5 hours.
Arrive in Santa Cruz where you will check into the beautiful Hotel Santa Cruz. The hotel’s decor is inspired by the South American colonial period, with rooms featuring custom-designed furniture. Each element is hand-crafted, from the wooden furniture imported from Peru, to the beds and lamps made in Santa Cruz. We suggest a relaxing poolside lunch at the hotel’s café, El Tambo.
This afternoon visit Viña Santa Cruz, a sprawling, estancia-style vineyard property featuring a cable car (teleferico) that spans the hillside, stopping at the reconstructed indigenous villages of Cerro Chaman, where you will be able to visit replicas of Rapa Nui, Mapuche and Aymara homes. Following the cable car ride, continue on to the harvesting yard, barrel storage, and vat room. Your visit concludes with a tasting of a selection of the wineries varietals which may include: Chamán Reserva, Chamán Gran Reserva and Tupu Edición Limitada. The unique Chamán is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and the region’s beloved Carmenere.
Return to Hotel Santa Cruz with time to relax before dinner on your own. You may choose to dine at the hotel, where the award-winning restaurant, Los Varietales, offers Chilean cuisine, or make arrangements with the hotel for a transfer to La Casita de Barreales for an excellent Peruvian meal.

Following breakfast at your hotel this morning you will meet your guide at 10:00 am for a half-day tour of some of the region’s finest wineries.
Today’s tour will be tailored to suit individual interests and knowledge levels. Explore the picturesque vineyards of the Colchagua Valley. Your guide will discuss the magnificent grapes grown in this unique terroir. Visit two wineries, enjoying a tasting of two wines per vineyard.
Lunch will be included at one of the wineries along your route today.
This afternoon, return to Santiago by private transfer. Arriving at The Aubrey by mid-afternoon, you will have time to relax on the mission-style patio terraces, providing an outdoor oasis overlooking landscaped gardens with the peaceful sounds of cascading water arches in the background.
We will provide you with a list of suggested restaurants for dinner this evening.

DAY FOUR
Enjoy breakfast overlooking the peaceful view of Cerro San Cristóbal Hill. You will meet your guide at a convenient time this morning for a half-day tour of Santiago.
This panoramic tour encompasses the rich history of the old-modern capital, offering a sense of the contrast between an often turbulent past dating back to the 16th century and the contemporary industrial city with its imposing high-rise buildings. Visit the Plaza de Armas, Santiago’s central square, and the Civic District, home to the Palacio de La Moneda, seat of the Chilean president. Continue on to Santa Lucia Hill, with its stairways leading through ornate fountains and façades to a vista that takes in the city from high above. Your guide will discuss additional sites as time permits.
The remainder of the day is yours to explore the city on your own.
Dine on your own this evening.
