Galapagos & Los Andes

The world’s largest continental mountain range, the Andes extend along the western coast of South America, running the length of Ecuador from north to south, and splitting the country in two. Prior to the arrival of the Spanish in 1534, the Incas ruled the Andes for years, and the region remains home to a number of indigenous communities. At 10,000 feet, Quito is the second highest capital in the world, surrounded by snow-covered peaks, clear mountain lakes, and charming colonial towns.
