THE ITINERARY

DAY ONE

Upon arrival in Cusco you will be met and transferred to your hotel to check in and freshen up.  Once ready you will be met and taken on a wonderful walking tour of Cusco.  On the tour, we will walk to appreciate the colonial city, built over the foundations of Incan palaces. We will be able to visit the Koricancha or Temple of the Sun, where you will be able to appreciate the magnificent building work; and the Main Square, where we will visit the Cathedral, with impressive crafts on carved wood. Lastly, visit to the neighborhood of San Blas, where the best artists live.  After your tour return to your hotel to relax and enjoy dinner at any one of the recommendations we will give you.

DAY TWO

After breakfast you will be transferred to Ollantaytambo, an Inca vestige that was a military, religious and agricultural center. Here, the fortress located in the highest part of the mountain, protected the valley from the invaders. The view of the town from the top is overwhelming, narrow streets and water channels are still used by the locals. After lunch at a local restaurant, we continue to Pisac, a beautiful town famous for its typical handicraft market, full of color and tradition.

In the afternoon return to your hotel to relax or continue exploring the area around you continuing to do a little shopping.  Enjoy a wonderful dinner out on the town this evening as we will give you recommendations on where to go.

DAY THREE

This morning, after breakfast, you will be transferred to the train station to take a ride to the Aguas Calientes Station in Machu-Picchu.  Here you will be transported to the top of the mountain and citadel of Machu-Picchu, one of the most renowned examples of Inca architecture, surrounded by lush cloud forest. Lost in history, it was not discovered until 1911 by the American explorer Hiram Bingham. After a guided visit of the ruins, you will have a self-service lunch at local restaurant.  Spend a little time walking around and taking in the amazing scenery before heading to your hotel where you can relax and enjoy an amazing dinner that evening.

DAY FOUR

This morning after breakfast, enjoy a second visit of the ruins on your own before taking the train back to Ollanta.  Upon arrival this afternoon you will be met and taken to your hotel to check in and freshen up.

DAY FIVE

After breakfast this morning you will be met and transferred to the airport for your flight home or continue on to the next portion of your Willing Foot adventure.
