DAY ONE

Today, you will be picked up at the airport or from your hotel in Montevideo, and driven to a family-run winery surrounded by forest near the Santa Lucia River. Built in 1942 following the model of a French chateau, the winery is beautiful and rustic, featuring two vineyards and an incredible car collection. Here, you’ll do some wine tasting, enjoy a fabulous lunch, and visit the car collection.

You’ll then be transferred to one of Uruguay’s most prestigious estancias. Founded in 1854, the estancia has been linked to major names in agriculture for the past 150 years, and functions today as a family-run country hotel. With white washed walls, original Spanish tiles, and large open fireplaces, the estancia is serene, stately, and romantic. Dinner will be a typical asado (Uruguayan barbeque) of grass-fed meats, hearty soups, vegetables directly from the greenhouse, and an excellent wine selection.

DAY TWO

Begin your full day at the estancia with an array of fresh fruits, homemade breads, cheeses, and local jams. Choose from a wide range of activities that include horseback riding, trekking throughout the surrounding areas, and swimming, or spend the day simply exploring the estancia, visiting the on-site Catholic chapel, or watching a milking at the dairy farm.

Before dinner this evening, you’ll take a photographic safari around Timote, during which you’ll see boars, foxes, ostriches, and armadillos.

DAY THREE

After breakfast this morning, you’ll visit an estancia known for its beautiful Arab horses and quality meat, milk, and wool production.

Later, drive to the most technically advanced winery in Uruguay, whose soils claims to have the same characteristics as those of Bordeaux, and where all harvesting is done by hand. Enjoy fine wine tasting and a full lunch before your drive back to Montevideo.
